A letter to the Editor

of the local Blue Ridge News Observer Paper

I am a volunteer at the Humane Society of Blue Ridge thrift shop and I wanted to thank everyone who helps support our organization.  Whether it be monetary donations, donations of items to our thrift shop, donations of time (volunteering to walk dogs and play with cats at our shelter or work at our thrift shop),  or donations of cat & dog food - please know how grateful all of us at the HSBR are.  I especially want to thank the donors who have brought in food for our monthly free pet food distribution.  The food that is collected, is distributed to Fannin County families who need help feeding their pets.  Some of these families have multiple cats and dogs.  This program allows them to keep their pets at home, where they belong, instead of having to surrender them to our over-crowded animal shelters.  And now, with high unemployment due to the pandemic, donated pet food is desperately needed.  The Humane Society of Blue Ridge has helped 575 families feed their pets since the beginning of this year. Thank you to all those who have, and continue to, assist us in our efforts.
